Discuss your music career.

I am a singer, songwriter, rapper, and producer originally from Manchester but now based in Huddersfield.

I dip in and out of genres including Soul, R&b, Hip-Hop, the 80s, Pop, Rock, while maintaining an original feel that creates what I feel is a unique sound.

I have recently written a new EP, which I recorded in a studio for the first time.

.

.

.

Tell us your source of inspiration.

Inspirations can come from different sources and when you don’t expect it at times, but things like family and the prospect of doing something I love for a living are a core or continuous inspiration.

.

.

.

Discuss how you develop your music style.

Like most people I’ve grown up listening to all kinds of music and genres and a lot of that has soaked in and comes out in the style I produce.

I try to let it be as organic as possible at the idea stage and just feel it out, once the idea is down, I start to shape things more to what I see the song being…

.

.

.

Elaborate on multi-genre music.

I think it’s great that musicians are exploring different genres and implementing them to their own music, this creates different and new genres and sounds; which can only be good in my opinion.

I feel I dip in and out of different genres including Hip-Hop/Pop/ Rock/R&b/Soul/80s

.

.

.

Tell us the best means of reaching fans.

Obviously, we live in a time now where we are connected more than ever.

Social media gives you a huge reach and ability to put your music out to the world independently.

I’ve found Instagram and Twitter useful in doing that and expanding my network. With that of course, comes a much larger number of people producing music. So, it’s important to be unique, no one can be like you so just keep your style and get out and gig once you feel your music is ready.

.

.

.

Discuss the process involved in launching a musical career.

Like most things, if you want to do it seriously as a career you’ve got to put in the hours, always be looking to learn and progress and have a tough skin.

Network with like-minded people and just keep trying to move forward

.

.

.

Tell us how to develop a lyric to a full song.

I usually start writing the hook/chorus first, try to get something catchy with a good flow that will stay in peoples’ heads hopefully.

So, once I get the chorus down I usually then write the pre-chorus and verses. When I am writing, the lyrics often come from something that’s been on my mind recently.

.

.

.

Tell us how you come up with a melody.

I get the chords and melody idea down initially on the piano and record them and I use Ableton Live as my main DAW.

I work with a great session musician who I then develop and expand on that idea with.

.

.

.

Tell us your ideal type of recording studio.

Comfortable, anybody who has recorded in a studio will tell you if you don’t feel comfortable and relaxed it’s not going to work, and you won’t get your best performance.

A big part of that though is the audio engineer; I think the aesthetics of a studio (obviously if it serves the purpose it’s supposed to) comes second to that.

.

.

.

Describe the factors you consider in a good song.

A good hook will always get you a long way – I love soulful music so having that always pulls me into a song. I think style and originality is a big thing for me also.

.

.

.

Tell us how you impact listeners with your songs.

I just hope it’s something that they enjoy listening too.

.

.

.

Tell us how you relate with producers and music directors.

Well producing my own music I know how much time and effort anyone who has achieved their goals or success in those careers have had to put in. So, I have a huge amount of respect for the people who are doing that.

.

.

.

Tell us how you feel after the completion of a song.

I think the feeling of achievement will come when I’ve reached my goals on a broader basis rather than with individual songs.

.

.

.

Tell us what you will change in your music.

I’m always looking to develop and fine-tune things, I’m having more singing lessons and developing my musical skills with the piano and guitar so hopefully development there and working with different singers and producers.

.

.

.

Tell us what is special about this release.

This is the first time I’ve recorded and mixed/mastered in a proper full kitted out studio, so I’m hoping the sound has developed to a more professional standard with this release.

.

.

.

Tell us about your future goals.

To get more exposure on my music, get it heard by more people in the industry and be out gigging on a regular basis. I’m also looking to film – some live sets soon.

.

.

.

Tell us how you overcome obstacles.

By accepting there is always going to be obstacles. Realizing that once you get past or overcome them, then that is the stage where the development happens.

.

.

.

Elaborate on the song.

‘No More’ is a song of defiance for anyone who feels they are being held down and not being given a fair opportunity.

It shows how we can drift into the thinking of “nothing we can do” to ultimately concluding not having it anymore and pushing forward no matter what.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your artist’s name and the title of the album.

The name 4FLO MUSIC is a personal thing and is related to someone who gives me a lot of inspiration and so the name is always there as a reminder to keep my focus and never give up.

The EP name I didn’t want to be elaborated as I wanted it to be a focus and introduction to 4FLO MUSIC. So, it was a branding decision, that the focus would just be on the main name 4FLO MUSIC.
